10-8-2013:
There are a few problems I have faced during this coursework research. At first I cannot connect the server with the server name. I cannot even ping it with the hostname. After some researches, I have found out that I have to add in the hostname and IP address inside the hosts text file. The directory for the host file inside the Windows Server is “C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. I have to open the notepad first and drag the file in for the editing of the documents.

After the presentation, I have to demonstrate
how the systems work by using Virtual Machine together with my group. I find it
very encouraging for the students to have those kind of demonstrations. It is
because I will be able to learn more and prepare more for the demonstration. As
it is a hands on demonstration, I have a lot of practical knowledge for that
and learn a lot from the mistakes and difficulties for the preparation of the
demonstration.

I have contributed for researching the remote access connections, file managements and access and backup configurations. In the beginning of the coursework, I found out that even though there is connection between both machines, Ubuntu is not able to remote access to the server machine. I have done some research and found out that I have to make some modifications to the services inside the server settings and also modify the remote settings under the properties of my computer in server machine. There is no backup configuration started inside the server machine

As a result, the Ubuntu machine is able to remote access to the server machine using the user accounts created inside the Active Directory of the Windows Server 2003. The backup sets of the server are configured successfully and can schedule for backups daily and weekly. There is even an option to verify the backup data but I didn’t try that as it takes up a lot of time and memory of my computer. The remote access connections are secured and only on the access right users inside the Active Directory Schema
